3 Weeks of School, 9 of America

Today, as I looked at the calendar, I must admit I was surprised when I saw that after this week, I only have three weeks left in the school year, and one of those is finals week. I think this particularly caught me off guard as I have consistently thought that once the school year ends, our work toward England will kick into overdrive. Even though we have 6 more weeks in America after the end of school, I know that they will be packed with all sorts of must-dos, should-dos, and wants. Below, then, in no particular order, are the things we will be doing in that time. Shoulds and maybes can be detailed later.

  • Apply for visas (we are still waiting on our sponsorship verification)
  • Apply for transfer of residence (to avoid import tax)
  • Learn to drive stick shift
  • Visit friends in Seattle in May (just Jessica)
  • Pack and ship our items (this involves planning for space, packing items into boxes, and then orchestrating the pick up from our curbside)
  • Sell remaining items (including the car) in the right timeframe to not need them after they are gone
  • Hike 57 miles of the Appalachian Trail
  • Host friends and family who visit in June
